MDE’s areas of Civil Engineering practice include Watershed Level Analysis and Planning, Hydrologic Modeling, both 1-Dimensional and 2-Dimensional Hydraulic Modeling, Stream Stability and Countermeasure Design, Flood Mitigation Projects, Regulatory FEMA Analysis for CLOMR, LOMR and No-Rise Certifications, Storm Water Management Planning, Civil/Site Drainage Design.

 

MDE’s area of Structural Engineering practice include the Design of Structural Systems for Commercial, Educational, Healthcare, Industrial, Military and Municipal Facilities.  Additional services include Structural Condition Assessments of Existing Buildings, Building Load and Serviceability Analysis, Detailed Repair and Remediation Recommendations, and Construction Document Design and Production through Building Information Modeling (BIM) Software.

Company history

Margaret Morgan Dean is the founding principal of MDE and practices in the fields of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering. Her twenty years of experience in both the public and private sector includes state and local governments, and other consulting engineering firms.  Morgan Dean, Inc. has the experience and expertise necessary to complete projects in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner that meet the needs of our clients.

MDE is a certified Women Owned Business Enterprise with the Mississippi Development Authority, a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and a Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

President / Principal Engineer

Margaret serves as President and Principal Engineer of Morgan Dean, Inc. and practices civil engineering in the area of water resources.  Her experience includes hydrologic and hydraulic design, watershed modeling, storm water management, regulatory floodplain management and design, stream stability and countermeasure design, the design of hydraulic road crossings, engineering analysis of dams, dam breach analysis and inundation mapping, and civil site drainage design.

Harlan G. Dean, III, PE, SE

Vice President / Principal Engineer

Harlan serves as Vice President of Morgan Dean, Inc. and practices structural engineering in the design of educational, commercial, municipal, industrial, military, recreational, and healthcare facilities. He is proficient in all aspects of structural analysis and design utilizing steel, concrete, timber, cold-formed steel, and masonry. Past projects include the design of schools, churches, multistory office buildings, hospitals, performing arts centers, bridges, and many other types of facilities. Harlan is a founding board of director and past president of the Structural Engineers Association of Mississippi.
